Rob Cordwell to lead teams out for Old Boys Day

Rob Cordwell to lead teams out for Old Boys Day

This Saturday we will be welcoming our Old Boys players and staff back to Sunshine Coast Stadium.

One old boy in particular who will be attending, Rob Cordwell, has been fighting Motor Neurone Disease (MND) since 2023.

Rob is facing this fight with the same grit and determination that made him such a well-respected player on the footy field.

A proud Nambour Crusher through and through, his passion and loyalty to the game, saw him go on to represent the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles, where he played an impressive 86 games, 51 in the Under 20s colts, 32 in A Grade FOGS cup, and 3 games in the Queensland Cup.

The Cordwell family have had a rich history with the Sea Eagles and Falcons Football Clubs. Rob’s Dad David, a life member of the Falcons, coached the Sea Eagles / Falcons for a number of years, his mum Teresa was a time-keeper, his brother James was an FAO and other brother Marty was Club Captain of the Sea Eagles / Falcons and a legend of the Falcons Football Club playjng over 100 QLD Cup games for the Club.

At home with the Crushers, Rob has played 87 A Grade games, cementing a legacy as one of the club’s most reliable and fearless competitors. You always knew what you were going to get from Rob, no backward steps, no excuses, just a tough, honest performance week in and week out. If he hit you, you knew it, and if you hit him, you also knew it.

Robs love for rugby league runs deep, not just for the game itself, but for the opportunities it gives people and the community it builds.

This Saturday, Rob will lead both of the Hostplus Cup teams onto the field in front of the BMD Women’s team, Old Boys and Sunshine Coast Stadium crowd.

There will also be a signed Melbourne Storm jersey raffled off on the day with all proceeds going to the Carl Webb Foundation to help support MND research.
